Ever wondered what it takes to be an entrepreneur?

The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.

The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. Prior to founding Estimote he co-founded AdTaily, the largest self-service ad network in Poland where he served as Board Member and the Head of Product. At that time, CNBC Business magazine considered AdTaily one of the 25 most innovative European companies. In 2009, AdTaily was sold to AGORA - a leading CE media group. He stepped down in 2012 to become a minority shareholder and Supervisory Board Member of AdTaily.

Jan Stasz

Jasiek Stasz is a co-founder of SHOWROOM (shwrm.com) - an e-commerce platform for independent fashion and design brands, where he takes care of Sales and Marketing. He works on building partnerships, provide leadership and business insight. He partners sales team in driving its strategy, and help to enhance the CRM process.

With understanding of both online and offline marketing he optimize campaigns to meet company's objectives. He considers himself to be a team player, though while in tight corner he likes to take over the leadership.

Michal Juda

Michal is the co-founder of SHOWROOM (shwrm.com) - an e-commerce platform for independent fashion and design brands. He graduated from Warsaw School of Economics and started his professional career in a consulting company in the Netherlands. After coming back to Poland Michal devoted himself to his own internet start-ups: erasm.us - platform for exchange students co-financed by the European Union and Lubie.to - platform offering applications for Facebook fanpages. Together with Jasiek Stasz, Michal started Filemon&Baucis - creative agency specializing in Facebook development that created SHOWROOM, initially as an internal project. SHOWROOM gained traction very fast and in March 2012 it received funding form HardGamma Ventures. Currently SHWRM.PL is the biggest platform for independent fashion brands in Poland, soon launching its international version.

Mateusz Tulecki

Board Advisor for Marketing and PR in Satus Venture. He’s also the originator and organizer of the InternetBeta Conference and the XRAII meetings in Rzeszów. Lecturer, trainer, advisor, evangelist. Marek Wylon

Investor, owner and co-founder of Ganymede studio – the largest aggregation of game creators specializing in social and mobile apps in Poland.

By profession, he is a programmer, a graduate of Cracow University of Science and Technology. By choice – a games enthusiast, fan of interactive entertainment and diving.

As early as in 2000, he created one of the first multiplayer games available in Poland, and by doing so engaged in several-year long collaboration with Wirtualna Polska. 5 years later he founded a Cracow-based company Ganymede, the owner Gamedesire.com. The site today gathers players from 197 countries around the world. Ganymede is in strict partnership with various portals and social networks, such as WP, Onet, Atrativa, Spilgames or Facebook.

Currently, the main focus of Ganymede is production and publication of social games, while primary business goal is to build an active community of players around them. Company's latest title, Last Temple, was recognized by Indie Social Games – the biggest blog dedicated to social gaming.

Michal Wendrowski

Inventor of Rublon technology, online marketing specialist. His first online venture was already profitable in 1999 when he was 11 years old. He created websites in German, English and Polish, which generated over ten million page views per month. During his several years in the domain name business, he has taken over more than 1000 domain names — e.g. komorki.pl ("mobile phones"), samochod.pl ("car"), telewizja.pl ("television") — and created CenyDomen.pl, a website which aggregates sales of Polish domain names. Having gathered valuable experiences in Germany and the United States, he returned to Poland to concentrate on innovating the Internet.

Richard Lucas

Richard Lucas is British entrepreneur, and angel investor who has lived in Poland for more than 20 years. He has shareholdings in 5 companies with about 400 employees. He has been on the Polish Global Entrepreneurship Week Honorary Committee, and been a organiser/sponsor/judge/juror in enterprise competitions in the UK and Poland, He has been a speaker at TEDxKrakow, Ignite, Pecha Kucha and many other entrepreneurship workshops and events.. Katarzyna Staszel

Passionate about startups and travel, Kasia specialises in advising companies in business development, strategy and long term vision planning. Her focus is on creating win-win situations, and ensuring that both customers and employees are happy and engaged. She has a degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Business Administration with a focus on Entrepreneurship, as well as experience working in the corporate, non-profit and startup sectors, having worked with organisations and companies in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia. His tenure at Interia.pl dates back to the beginning of his professional career: he began as a promotions specialist and then moved on to the position of Promotions Officer. In October 2006 he assumed the role of CMO, in July 2008 became a Member of the Board, in July 2009 took the position Vice-President of the Board and in January 2011 became President of the Management Board of INTERIA.PL. From October 2007 to July 2009, he was also a member of the Supervisory Board of an Internet research company Polskie Badania Internetu, as well as a member of the Research Methodology Council for the Megapanel PBI/Gemius Study.

Krzysztof Belech

President of the Board and founder of SATUS Venture, responsible for strategic management and investment policy (creation, development, investment assessment, monitoring). A Member of the Investing Committees at JCI Venture, FZ KPT, AI NOT. He used to manage the processes of assessing investment projects finished with several capital entries. In the years 1996-2002, he was a stockbroker and Trade Director at VEGA S.A. as well as a partner in a consulting company Finbud Consulting.
